Clare Wheadon Interiors offers full-service residential interior design that ranges from selection of architectural details and finishes, kitchen and bath design, collaborating with architects and builders, to space planning and furniture layouts, sourcing furniture, lighting textiles and antiques, and creating custom furniture tailor-made for each client.
In fall 2022, Clare was awarded the Editor’s Choice Award for Traditional Interior Design by North Shore Home Magazine: “For traditional design that’s perfectly at home on the stately North Shore—but often with an unexpected or global twist—look to Clare Wheadon Interiors. Clare strives to create enduring, timeless interiors with unexpected details and thoughtfully layered textures and colors. Her work is an exercise in focused visual storytelling, with the end result being a home that authentically reflects her clients’ personality and lifestyle. Clare seeks to engage with clients in a collaborative way that allows them to feel a true aesthetic, emotional connection with their homes.
A Boston area native, Clare spent 20 years living on the West Coast and in Southeast Asia.
She graduated from from the Art Institute of California in San Francisco in 2008, and began her interior design career at the prestigious hospitality, residential and retail design firm Backen Gillam Architects in Sausalito, California (now Backen Gillam Kroeger Architects).
After several years focusing on high end residential design at Carla Carstens Designs, Inc in Santa Cruz, California, Clare established her solo design practice in 2014. She began projects on the East Coast after relocating to Marblehead, Massachusetts in 2016.
Clare currently resides in Falmouth, Maine with her family, and is enamored with the historical architecture of New England.
She seeks out opportunities to blend vintage and modern elements in every aspect of her life.
